Why can't TINDIE add sales tax to orders?

As a USA seller, it’s imperative that I charge the required sales tax to purchasers in my state. If I don’t, then I have to pay it out of my pocket, which is just plain stupid and poor business.

Adding a “fee” to all purchases is cheating those custommers from out-of-state.
There is also no way to have a different price for just my state.

People have been requesting this since 2015 !!!

I can’t beleive that in this day and age, it’s so hard to compare the purchaser’s state with the Seller’s state and then add the required percentage to the price.

Or, even simpler, just provide the means for a seller to designate their state and their sales tax rate.

Sales tax might be able to be ignored for tiny hobby businesses, but if a seller gets popular, they MUST then move to a site that can add sales tax to an order. So Tindie is basically setting themselves up to lose their more proffitable businesses.

If I have this wrong, then please tell me that actual process for getting my store to add the required sales tax for my state…

Tax needs to be calculated by zip code as a number of states have local tax added to state tax for transactions.

I would like to add my support for Tindie to collect USA State taxes. I pay local sales tax but since Tindie doesn’t collect it, the tax comes out of my pocket. It’s a small amount but is highly irritating.

BTW, tax should be passed through without the Tindie fee taken out. I don’t suppose that is possible for the transaction fee.
