Shipping methods (tracked/untracked)

How are sellers dealing with different shipping methods?

Tracked parcels are about 4 to 6 times more expensive than untracked parcels. However, untracked parcels have a risk. They can’t be tracked so you can never be sure if it has been delivered or not.

So how are others doing it?

Should I offer the cheaper method and take the risk for non delivery? Not offer the cheaper method and miss out on orders? Or offer the method and explicitly state that this shipping method is at the buyer’s own risk?

You can’t move your responsibility to the buyer. You will always be responsible for the shipment, regardless telling your buyers you wouldn’t.

We are facing fences and surveillance cameras everywhere because we are afraid everyone could be a thief or terrorist. But how many bad guys are out there? 1 in 100? Or 500?

We offer oversize lettermail shipping for 4 years on eBay, Amazon, Walmart, our own store, and now on Tindie as well. If 1 of 500 customers claims not having received their order, we pour another coffee and klick on “refund”. That’s business. No risk, no business. But we hope the 1 who betrayed us will be hit by a train
