State Sales Tax, Ho-To?

How do sellers handle state taxes?
For me, I will need to pay 8.25% if a buyer is in Texas. We all have this problem, or so I think… If we sell an item to someone in our state, we owe a state tax. Not paying that tax is dangerous as there are stiff fines from the state. Is this just something we eat? Just make less on the items sold in our state, build in some extra to cover it?

Seems like this is a major pain that Tindie could help with. Some way to automatically add Tax if the seller and the buyer are in the same state…

Bear in mind that not all sellers are from the US. People outside the US have tax issues that need solving, too.

As an immediate workaround, presumably you pay less in shipping to send stuff locally - so you can pass on the tax as part of the S&H fee.
